Mercy Chinwo, a gospel singer, sued secular musician Obidiz for appropriating her name and image in a song with commercial appeal.
The singer accused him of disparagingly utilizing her name and likeness in a secular music audio and video in a complaint filed on March 23rd 2023.
Her lawyer sent Obidiz a cease and desist letter, requesting him to stop using her name and likeness to market his music.
He must immediately remove the song he uploaded from all musical platforms, as well as the promotional film featuring images and clips from all social media sites.
If he does not comply with their demands, the full force of the law will be unleashed against him, seeking N2 billion in damages.
